Memorial for the 80th
anniversary of Albanian Muslim Community’s foundation
The 2003 recorded the 80th
anniversary of Albanian Muslim Community’s foundation. In 1923,
the Albanian Muslims scholars were gathered in a congress and
founded the Muslim Community of Albania. On remembering this
important event, not only for the Muslims but for all the
Albanians in general, the Cultural Association “Selvia” and an
ex-students group from the last generation of the well-known
Madrasah in Tirana organized a memorial meeting named “The call
of tradition”.
The meeting was opened by the leader
of association Ervin Hatibi who stressed that according to the
similarity between conditions of Muslims, in that time and at
the present, we must follow the model of those Albanian scholars
who knew how to conserve and to develop the Islamic tradition
among the Albanians. Also, according to him this is the main
reason why this meeting has “The call of tradition” as its
topic.
After him, in this meeting have
spoken different orators who presented their point of views
about the development of Islamic history and culture in Albania,
since the time of separation from the ottoman Empire. Hafiz
Qeramudin Durdia, ex-mufti of Berat, talked about the right
communication’s values of the Koranic message in our society.
The historian Sherif Delvina made a historical presentation of
progresses within the Albanian Islamic community during that
time. Ex-Director of Madrasah “Mahmud Dashi” in Tirana Mr.
Xhemal Balla referred about the mission of the religious
activist which, according to him, is the mission of the
prophets. Mr. Ali Basha talked about the moral historic of
Albanian Islamic tradition after the Independence. The speakers
exposed that the meeting is much more of cultural character
because it treats an important historical event. |
